St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

I'm running the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon, as you may have already read.  Well along with that, I am throwing a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  A charity date auction, in fact.  I will be auctioning off my friends as well as date packages at a venue in DC, which will also be offering drink specials and donating 10% of the proceeds.  Once the date and time are determined, I will be posting it here, and networking and advertising like crazy. It will be a fun time, and hopefully raise awareness and money for this wonderful organization.

For those of you who don't know about St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, it is located in Memphis, TN and is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Ranked one of the best pediatric cancer hospitals in the country, St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

I lived in Memphis for 2 years and was fortunate enough to become good friends with some of the amazing researchers, fundraisers, and public relations people in this life-saving organization.  I've been on campus and I know that lives are changed here and every penny donated is worth it.  I believe so whole-heartedly in St. Jude and their mission and therefore, ask you to check them out and think about donating.

In addition to the MCM '11, I am running the St. Jude Half Marathon.  I ran it last year (and the year before) with 2 of my good friends, Cecy and Lisa.  Somehow, a pic of Cecy and I ended up on the marathon's website banner.  I am so proud and so honored to be representing the organization!!!  Check me out.  (I'm the one on the right with the blond hair.)

Love love.  Okay, on to more planning of this charity date auction...
